Eliza, professional home organizer

As the oldest daughter, I used to sort my little brother’s Legos by category so he could always find the exact piece he needed for his next castle, spaceship, or Batmobile.

Years later, when I started organizing professionally, the people who knew me best all had the same reaction: “That is so you.”

It just took me a while to see it myself.

I studied environmental studies, where I became fascinated by how much we consume and the value already in what we have. I knew I wanted to do work that made a tangible difference, but I wasn’t yet sure what that would look like.

After college, I joined a tech startup in Boston. My favorite project was one I created for myself: turning our scattered sales and marketing materials into a clear system the team could rely on.

That project made something click. I loved figuring out how to make things clearer and easier to use.

Eventually, that realization brought me into people’s homes.

There, the work became much more personal. Before I think about containers or where something should go, I want to understand what matters to you: what feels frustrating, what already works, and how you want your home to function. From there, we can rally around that vision and create a system that makes sense for the way you actually live.

Living in Prospect Heights has made me even more aware of how much we ask of our homes. In New York, every square foot has a job to do.

Looking back, the Lego bins were never really about the sorting. They were about making it easier for my brother to find what he needed and get back to building.

That’s still what I want organization to do: work quietly in the background, so you can spend less time managing your things and more time living your life.
